THE MANY FACES OF REBECCA LIM … (ALONG WITH SOME FASHION TIPS)

Lately, I got to know Rebecca Lim, Miss Photogenic of Singapore Universe 2005 through Nat Ho.

Since then, I have helped to style her for a couple of events of which she had to attend and she is simply amazing.

I realised that Rebecca (besides her pretty face) has a lot of potential in terms of pulling off different looks!

One look which she pulls off so well is the Shanghai Tang look. Since being featured in Channel 8 drama serials such as Love At 0° C (Ai Qing Ling Du C) and Family Matters (Fa Ting Qiao Jia Ren). Rebecca’s most memorable act by far (in my opinion) is the portrayal of Susie Woon in MediaCorp’s English drama “Fighting Spiders”. She looked so sassy in a cheongsam!!!

The Glamourous look:

I gave Rebecca a multi layering silk organza purple dress (by Keith Png for GoldHeart) and belt it up to give her a hourglass figure. Rebecca looks debonair in this ensemble. The volume of the dress gave her a more sprightly feel and she looks complete with the beautiful jewelries (courtesy of GoldHeart)! Go for thicker belt for the waist if you want to make your waist look smaller.

The Girl Next Door Look

Simple combination of stripes and netting, Rebecca is wearing a low back dress from Pouf, as the neckline is slightly high. I decided to dress her up in a elastic belt with a bow filled with crystals. To compensate the lack of accessories when wearing a “safe” dress, choose a belt with blings or a really “loud” looking Clutch bag.

She pulled off this look wonderfully, looking all sweet and enchanting in this get up.

PUMA "CREATE YOUR STYLE CAMPAIGN"

Puma is launching its new ‘Create Your Style’ campaign that revolves around the theme of individualism and creativity and had their ambassadors Taiwanese actor Eddie Peng and Hong Kong model Gaile Lai posing with self-drawn board and images.

In conjunction with this campaign, Puma has invited me along with Clarence Lee and many other opinion leaders to participate in this fun & interesting campaign. We were given a piece of A3 white drawing paper and a marker, everyone of us have to draw our desired image and pose creatively with it.

To herald the premiere of the fourth season of the deliciously wicked hit TV series TOP CHEF – Sony Entertainment Television (SET, mioTV ch 20) is collaborating with talented local designer, Keith Png, to create an exclusive pair of sexy aprons to be sold to the public. All proceeds will go to the channel’s adopted charity – the Singapore Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF).

 

WHO  

Keith Png is no stranger to the local fashion scene. Dresses by this design extraordinaire have been seen on countless local celebrities (think Fann Wong’s marvelous tulle dress worn during her ROM) and even Taiwanese model Lin Chi Ling! 

 

Keith gave his time and effort to the cause by designing a ‘For Her’ and ‘For Him’ set of aprons – the former inspired by the classic Marilyn Monroe halter dress and the latter, based on the very suave tuxedo, complete with a black bow tie – all set to up the haute factor in the kitchen!

 

 

HOW

From 12 September, you can pick up the delectable Aprondisiacs at our roving on-ground sales along Orchard Road (on 12 September only!), at Keith Png’s retail store Hide & Seek and culinary school Coriander Leaf, or even simply with a click of the mouse at Cozycot.com.

 

Each Aprondisiac will be retailing at SGD40.00. Online purchases at Cozycot.com will have an additional 5% bank surcharge of SGD2.10 (total cost SGD42.10), with free delivery by SET. Rest assured that the full proceeds of SGD40.00 per apron will still go entirely to BCF.

 

The Aprondisiacs will also be available at upcoming on-ground events with BCF and Cozycot. More details are provided below.

Julie Hewett''s Up close & Personal Make up workshop held last saturday,23rd May, turned out as a huge success,with local celebrity make up artist-Ginger Lynette lee, sharing her trade's secrets with two very concised class, of maximum intake for 5 persons only.  

The small scale class allowed Ginger to focus on everyone's questions,and for her to demonstrate different make up techniques that are suitable for the individuals using products from Julie Hewett.

新加坡时尚圈盛事“奥迪时装节”下周三开始举行，概括“奥迪时装节”台前幕后种种精彩，邀你近看时装节，加深了解，提升期待。 A－Audi Fashion Festival（奥迪时装节） 　　“新加坡时装节”和“新加坡时装周”今年停办，改由“奥迪时装节”（Audi Fashion Festival，以下简称AFF）成为时尚焦点。这场耗资的时装盛会从5月6日举行至10日，主要由德国汽车品牌奥迪呈献。奥迪将在时装节上正式推出Audi A3 Cabriolet，其设计师Imre Hasanic将来新出席相关活动。 B－Baker 　　AFF指定家具品牌，贵宾室的家具装潢都出自Baker。品牌由荷兰移民工匠Siebe Baker于1890年创立，长期为皇家贵族服务，在家具界成为优秀设计与高品质的象征，是首个参与本地大型时装活动的高级家具品牌。 Audi A3 Cabriolet C－Charmaine Harn 　　AFF名模代表，中荷法混血儿，新加坡顶尖名模之一。之前主要穿梭于巴黎和香港，曾与Sonia Rykiel和Thierry Mugler合作。 D－DHL 　　漂亮的时装怎么来到你眼前？时装节上看到的Vivienne Westwood和Ashley Isham时装系列，都由指定物流公司DHL送来新加坡。 E－Emerging talent（优异新秀） 　　AFF不只是大品牌的秀场，也为新晋设计师提供曝光机会。时装秀Blueprint呈献本区域五名新晋设计师的时尚品牌，其中包括本地的Reckless Ericka、马来西亚的Elohim、菲律宾的Gian Romano以及印尼的Stella Rissa和Nikicio。 F－FJ Benjamin（本杰明） 　　新加坡名牌商品分销与零售商本杰明集团庆祝50周年，旗下品牌Raoul将在“奥迪时装节”呈献09秋冬系列。Raoul夫妻档创办人Douglas与Odile Benjamin将呈献多款经典设计，设计重点为“accessible luxury”（触手可及的奢华）和“elevated essentials”（获提升的必备服饰）。 Marc by Marc Jacobs G－Georgia Lee（李小娟） 　　新加坡著名美容医生和时尚圈红人，将在“奥迪时装节”呈献她的全新护肤系列，分享护肤心得。 H－Haute couture（高级定制服） 　　开幕秀为Christian Lacroix的春夏2009 Haute couture秀，是乌节路有史以来首场豪华定制服秀。大师的haute couture秀一般只在巴黎举行，而且一票难求，这次难得来到新加坡，炫眼夺目的奢华、华丽绝对是本时装节的highlight之一。 I－In Conversation（与时尚达人对话） 　　AFF创意总监Colin McDowell当主持，与三名时尚达人在新加坡美术馆进行精彩对话。时尚达人分别为：英国伦敦设计界新宠儿Gareth Pugh、潮流时尚杂志Dazed & Confused时尚主编Katie Shillingford，以及伦敦艺术组织!WOWOW!成员Matthew Stone。过去，时尚大师如：Tom Ford、Alexander McQueen和Stella McCartney都曾参与In Conversation。 J－Jacquetta Wheeler 　　英国超级名模特儿Jacquetta Wheeler将在万众期待的Lacroix开幕秀走上伸展台，展现大师的创意和想象。Wheeler17岁时便成为法国Vogue杂志封面任务，并参与Gucci的广告拍摄。客户包括Calvin Klein、Prada、The Gap、Burberry和Versace等，1999年被The Face杂志选为“世纪模特儿”，2002年被英国报章列为收入最高的英国模特儿之一。 K－KOOPS & Keith Png 　　新加坡品牌Koops设计师Keith Png参与Red Dress Project（见R），红裙设计取材自深红康乃馨，裙子上的花瓣由21条丝绸布段织成。Koops一向以连身裙为主打，其中大部分为独一无二设计，虽然成立仅两年，但大受国内外艺人的欢迎。 L－Lee Hwa（利华珠宝） 　　AFF指定珠宝品牌，将呈献Ashley Isham的couture秀以及Ashley Isham10周年Red Carpet Retrospective。此外，利华珠宝将同Ashley Isham合作推出新系列珠宝首饰，预计今年最后一季推出。 Elohim Christian Lacroix M－MAC 　　AFF指定化妆品牌，10余名MAC化妆师身负重任，确保所有模特儿都以最佳面貌示人。MAC化妆团队由经验丰富的Beno Lim带领，他曾多次为新加坡和国外的戏剧表演展现巧思妙手，最近一次是在日本东京的Cirque de Soleil展示手艺。 N－Ngee Ann City（义安城） 　　AFF指定会场Tent@Orchard坐落于义安城，所有时装秀都在此举行。 O－Organizer（主办单位） 　　AFF的主办单位是Mercury市场传讯公司，Mercury去年受新加坡旅游局委托承办“新加坡时装节”，累积了不少经验。公司创办人李慧晶有感新加坡的时装环境近年好不容易成了气候，今年停办“新加坡时装节”太可惜，故主动与其他私人机构联手呈献“奥迪时装节”。 P－Priceless Moments（无价时光） 　　指定信用卡MasterCard为卡主而设的时装节优惠——其中一名幸运卡主将有机会让Ashley Isham亲自设计造型，并穿上Isham的作品走秀，并把作品带回家。 Q－Queue（排队） 　　大部分售票演出和活动的票已售罄，买不到票但想探个究竟，记得早点到场排队，霸个好位。演出和活动详情可上网下载：http://audifashionfestival.com/calendar/download_schedule.html Christian Lacroix R－Red dress（红裙） 　　暂时放下LBD（Little Black Dress）吧，把焦点锁定“小红裙”（Little Red Dress）。亮丽的红裙是时装节的主角之一，配合新加坡心脏基金的Go Red For Women活动，本区域新崛起的设计师设计的10款红裙，将以$500的底价拍卖，供MasterCard卡主投标，拍卖所得将投入Go Red for Women活动。 　　活动以“小红裙”为象征，目标是提高妇女对心脏病和中风的认识，加强她们的防范意识。除了“小红裙”，三个限量版Samsung UltraTouch手机也供MasterCard卡主投标。 　　想亲眼看看10款红裙？新加坡品牌hansel、KOOPS、nicholas和reckless ericka的作品将在Isetan Scotts展出（5月18日至6月7日），外地品牌（ELOHIM、Gian Romano、Heidi's Secret、Nikicio、Nurita Harith以及Stella Rissa）的作品则在瑞吉酒店展出（5月8日至6月7日）。 S－St Regis（瑞吉酒店） 　　飞来出席AFF的设计师、名模和其他时尚达人将下榻的酒店，届时将配合时装节举行多个展览和活动如：The Little Red Dress展览和慈善拍卖会，媒体采访角落亦设于酒店的Drawing Room。此外，酒店餐馆Braserrie Les Saveurs将推出La Fashionista玫瑰香槟下午茶，巧妙结合餐饮与时尚。 T－Tent@Orchard 　　AFF主要地点，届时将举行多达10场时装秀。除了分别作为开幕和闭幕的Christian Lacroix春夏couture秀和Vivienne Westwood秋冬秀，还有Gareth Pugh、Blueprint、Ashley Isham、Marc by Marc Jacobs、Action发廊、MANGO、RAOUL和李小娟医生的相关时装秀／演出。 U－Ultra-touch 　　Samsung与新加坡设计师Ashley Isham和利华（Lee Hwa）珠宝合作，推出限量版Ultra-touch手机和相关配件。作品将作慈善拍卖，受益者为新加坡心脏基金。 Ashley Isham Vivienne Westwood V－Vinn Wong 　　Action Hair Salon创意总监，部分作品将在Action Hair Salon的发型秀Reflections呈献。此外，Action Hair Salon作为“奥迪时装节”指定发廊，将包办所有模特儿的发型。 W－Westwood 　　庞克教母Vivienne Westwood的09／10秋冬时尚秀为AFF闭幕秀，是Westwood首次在新加坡举行的大型时尚秀。Westwood迷注意：首家Anglomania分店将在年中于新加坡开设！（Anglomania为Westwood在1997年推出的副品牌，主要对象为年龄较轻的顾客。） X－X-treme（极端） 　　时尚无极限，走在时代尖端的设计师如：Vivienne Westwood、Christian Lacroix和Gareth Pugh，以超乎想象，超越极端的设计震撼伸展台。 Y－Y世代 　　AFF不只属于经验丰富的时尚大师，亦为新人提供舞台／游乐场。除了时装秀Blueprint的五名新，还有为Go Red for Women设计红裙的时尚“新星”。温习熟悉的精彩之余，同时发掘Y世代的惊喜，温故知新+推陈出新，让时尚永远发光发亮。 Z－Zouk 　　5月10日（星期天）下午两点至傍晚七点，新加坡著名夜店Zouk的临时跳蚤市场Flea & Easy将以“fashion elite”（时装精英）为主题，邀本地著名设计师、造型师、时尚主编、店主和其他时尚达人提供新品+二手衣物，售价从$2～$400不等。 　　此外，英国伦敦的设计界新宠儿Gareth Pugh和伦敦艺术组织!WOWOW!成员Matthew Stone将在Zouk联合展示DJ功力。

KOOPS for "Go Red For Women" presented by MasterCard

Go Red For Women presented by MasterCard, in conjunction with the Audi fashion Festival 2009, brings you an auction of 10 little red dresses for a cause. Three limited edition red samsung UltraTouch mobile phones with customised pouches are also up for bidding.

All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Singapore Heart Foundation's Go Red For Women campaign. Symbolised by the little red dress, the campaign aims to empower women in their fight against heart disease and stroke.

“Inspired by the deep red carnation flower which symbolizes one’s aching heart of love, I have created my dress using 21 silk satin strips cut on the bias and sewn down on the raw silk bodice to create the curves and layers which resemble the petals of a carnation,” said Keith Png.
